Creating Serial Numbers

A serial number represents a series of identical products, and is typically identified with an alphanumeric code. The software automatically assigned a new serial number to the part in the current Data Entry Configuration, or you can manually assign a new serial number to each item or piece in a subgroup.

  1. In Database Manager, double click the Part - Serial Number table.
  2. In the Database Manager menu bar, click Options | Add.

    OR

    Right click in the table, and then click Add.

    OR

    Using the keyboard, press CTRL+A.

  3. In the Part Group drop-down list, click the desired part group.

    To add a new part group, click the plus button (+), and in the Part - Group: Add dialog box, type the name of the Part group.

  4. In the Part Name drop-down list, click the desired part.

    To add a new part, click the plus button (+), and in the Add Part - Definition dialog box, type the name of the Part.

  5. In the Serial Number data field, type the serial number of the selected part.
  6. Click the OK button.
NOTE:

To modify serial numbers, click the desired serial number, and then do one of the following:

  • In the Database Manager menu bar, click Options | Edit.

  • Right click the desired serial number, and then click Edit.

  • Double click the desired serial number.

  • Using the keyboard, press CTRL+E.

NOTE:

To delete serial numbers, click the desired serial number, and then do one of the following:

  • In the Database Manager menu bar, click Options | Delete.

  • Right click the desired serial number, and then click Delete.

  • Using the keyboard, press CTRL+D.

In the prompt, click the Yes button.
